Lessons and Field trips
The Cayman Islands Mangrove Rangers operate under the Mangrove Education Project, a nonprofit dedicated to educating people of all ages on what mangroves are, the importance of mangroves and threats they are facing.
The Mangrove Education Project offers multiple types of lessons and fieldtrips to students and other groups locally in the Cayman Islands. We have recently expanded to not only offer lessons on mangroves, but seagrass and coral reef ecosystems too!

Central Mangrove Wetland Walking Tour + Classroom Lesson
Full Day
Explore the Caribbean's largest contiguous mangrove forest with us! We will guide you into the Central Mangrove Wetlands and take you on a tour of some of our most wild mangrove habitat on Grand Cayman! After the tour, we will come to your classroom and talk a bit more in depth about mangrove ecosystems and all the things we saw on our tour.
Camana Bay Mangrove Walking Tour + Classroom Lesson

If the Central Mangroves are a bit too far away, we offer mangrove walking tours right near Camana Bay! We usually see lots of cool creatures on this tour including our Cayman parrot and woodpeckers! After the tour, we will come to your classroom and talk a bit more in depth about mangrove ecosystems and all the things we saw on our tour.
Seagrass Meadow Exploration + Classroom Lesson
Full Day
Spend some time investigating and learning about an often overlooked ecosystem! Our knowledgeable guides will tell you all there is to know about the benefits seagrass meadows provide us humans, animals and our surrounding environment.
After the tour, we will come to your classroom and talk a bit more in depth about Seagrass ecosystems and all the things we saw on our tour.

Coral Reef Exploration + Classroom Lesson

Want to learn about all the cool functions of Coral Reefs? This is the perfect opportunity to experience coral reefs first hand on a guided snorkel tour followed by an educational class lesson with experts!
*Note this tour is subject to boat availability and weather permitting

During our classroom lessons we go over the basic ecology of mangroves, seagrasses and coral reefs! We also discuss the benefits of mangroves and some of the threats they are facing and what we can do to protect them!
Coral Reef / Seagrass specific classes are also offered upon request.
Field Trip Only
2 Hours
Our experienced staff will lead you and your group through a mangrove, coral reef or seagrass ecosystem, pointing out all the little details that make them so productive and unique! We will go over basic ecology as well as identify any creatures we may come across.

Mangrove Walk & Boat Trip + Snorkel
4 Hours
Explore inland and costal mangroves! In this program you will learn about mangrove and seagrass ecology while experiencing them first hand.

Virtual Classroom Lesson
1 Hour
Join us on Zoom for a virtual Mangrove, Seagrass or Coral Reef class! Through shared screen presentations, the Mangrove Rangers will tell you all about the chosen topic and go over their benefits to humans and wildlife, as well as talk about some of the threats they are facing.
Virtual Classroom Lesson + Activities
2 Hours
Hands- on learning from the comfort of your home (or classroom!) Join us on Zoom for our virtual Mangrove class! Through shared screen presentations, we will tell you all about mangroves and guide you through hands on activities from a pre-prepared activity box.
*This offer is only available at this time for the Mangrove topic. Activity boxes must be collected prior to the lesson by teacher or parent.

Learn all about Mangroves, Seagrasses and Coral Reefs in a streamline presentation covering their environmental benefits and some of the threats they are facing. Find out what we can do to help protect and preserve these important ecosystems!
